State Update on Legislative Committee Action

Public hearings held on Board of Regents Composition Bill

On Wednesday, April 27, the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Forestry, and Higher Education held a public hearing on SB-28 relating to the composition of the Board of Regents.  On Thursday, April 28, the Assembly Committee on Colleges and Universities held a public hearing on identical legislation AB 39.  The UW System presented testimony and a April 2011 Board of Regent Resolution in support of that legislation.

Also on Wednesday, April 27, a public hearing on AB 7 (Voter ID legislation) was held by the Assembly Elections and Campaign Reform Committee. See Wisconsin Eye coverage here.  The UW System testified before the committee in opposition to the legislation and shared these remarks and this March 2011 Regent Resolution with the Committee.

Upcoming Joint Finance Committee meetings on May 3

The Joint Finance Committee resumes voting on Tuesday, May 3.  The public hearing notice, agenda, and budget papers for the May 3rd hearing can be found here.  The Committee will meet again on Thursday, May 5.  More details to follow.
