State legislative update for May 6

Tuesday's special elections bring three new members to the State Assembly
60th Assembly District: Republican Duey Stroebel of Saukville wins the race to replace former State Representative Mark Gottlieb who resigned his seat to become Secretary of the Department of Transportation.

83rd Assembly District: Republican Dave Craig of Big Bend wins the race to replace former State Representative Scott Gunderson who resigned his seat to serve as Executive Assistant at the Department of Natural Resources.

94th Assembly District: Democrat Steve Doyle of Onalaska wins the race to replace former State Representative Mike Huebsch who resigned his seat to become the Secretary of the Department of Administration.

Next week's Joint Finance Committee (JFC) schedule
May 9:   The JFC will meet for an executive session on Voter ID legislation (AB-7)See hearing notice here
May 12: The JFC will resume voting on the budget bill. More details to follow.

Assembly floor session next week
The State Assembly is expected to be in session on both Tuesday, May 10 and Wednesday, May 11. 
See Tuesday's calender here. Wednesday's calender will be finalized on Monday and is expected to include voter ID and telecommunications legislation.

Senate Higher Education Committee approves Regent Composition bill
On May 4, the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Forestry and Higher Education approved SB-28, relating to the composition of the Board of Regents on a 6-1 vote.
