Federal Update for February 1, 2012

The Department of Agriculture National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA) has issued, in today's Federal Register, a solicitation (pdf) for stakeholder input on the Agriculture and Food Research Initiative (AFRI) program. NIFA announced they will hold a public meeting and solicit public comments for consideration in the development of the FY2013 AFRI program solicitations and the FY2014 Budget. The meeting will be held on Wednesday, February 22, 2012, beginning at 8 am in Washington, DC. They will also be accepting written comments by 5 pm EST on Thursday, March 22, 2012. Registration for the 2012 National Humanities Alliance Annual Meeting and Humanities Advocacy Day is open. Today, February 1, is the last day for the advanced discounted registration rate of $90. This annual event, which will be held on March 19-20 this year, is aimed at connecting a network of humanities advocates from around the country.
