Federal Update for July 14, 2011

Yesterday, the House Appropriations Committee marked up its FY12 Commerce-Justice-Science (CJS) appropriations bill.  As reported from subcommittee action, the bill would level-fund the National Science Foundation (NSF) at $6.9 billion and cut the NASA budget by $1.6 billion.

The House Appropriations Committee also marked up its version of the FY12 Interior-Environment funding bill, making no changes from subcommittee in overall funding for the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH).  The measure would cut the budgets of both NEH and the National Endowment for the Arts by $20 million from their FY10 levels, reducing each agency's budget to $135 million.
