Control of State Senate Shifts to Democrats

Yesterday, the Government Accountability Board (GAB) officially certified the results of the 21st Senate District recall election. Democrat John Lehman defeated incumbent Republican Van Wanggaard, resulting in a 17-16 Democratic majority in the Senate. The GAB certified results can be found here.

Senate to Meet Next Week
The State Senate is expected to meet next Tuesday, July 17, for the purpose of electing a new Senate President and President Pro Tempore.  Further details to follow.
