Upcoming Higher Ed. Committee Activity

On February 24, the Assembly Committee on Colleges and Universities will hold a public hearing on several bills that impact the UW System.  Information on the time and location is available in the hearing notice.  The following legislation will be considered:

• AB 698 - Authorizing the UW-Whitewater Carlson Hall renovation project
• AB 708 - Creating a Food Animal Veterinarian Loan Assistance Program
• AB 745 - Prohibiting institutions of higher education from engaging in certain activity regarding student credit cards and requiring such institutions to provide financial literacy information to students
• SB 121 - Creating a Career Conversations Program at UW-Madison (UW System bill position)

The Senate Committee on Agriculture and Higher Education will meet in executive session on February 24.  For a full list of items for consideration see the hearing notice.  Those related to higher education include:

• SB 407 - Expanding eligibility for Academic Excellence Higher Education Scholarships (UW System bill position)
• SB 431 - Restricting the use of the terms college, university, state, and Wisconsin in the name of a school (UW System bill position) 
• SB 497 - Creating a Food Animal Veterinarian Loan Assistance Program
