October Updates

Wisconsin Economic Summit Series Concludes:
The Wisconsin Economic Summit Series concluded on Tuesday, October 5 in Milwaukee, with its final conference "Moving Wisconsin Forward." The day focused on bringing together the suggestions and findings from the two previous summits and using them to create strategies for Wisconsin's new to-be elected government.
 

UW-Milwaukee Interim Chancellor Mike Lovell delivered the opening remarks for the conference. Joining him in presenting were UW Madison Chancellor Biddy Martin and UW Madison Professor Kenneth Goldstein. Numerous other UW System faculty, staff, and administrators were also in attendance.

Gubernatorial candidates Milwaukee County Executive Scott Walker and Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett also addressed the conference attendees.

Legislative Study Councils:

The Special Committee on Review of Higher Education Financial Aid Programs held a public hearing on October 7.

Representing UW System was Jane Hojan-Clark, the Executive Director of Department of Financial Aid at UW Milwaukee. You can download and view a copy of the presentation she made to the committee here.
