State of the State Address and new funding to help Wisconsin students prepare for college

Governor Walker announced this week that he will deliver the second State of the State Address of his term on Wednesday, January 25 at 7 p.m. Walker will speak from the State Capitol Assembly chamber, and the address will be broadcast live online by Wisconsin Eye.

This week, Governor Walker also announced additional funding to help Wisconsin students plan and prepare for college. The U.S. Department of Education's College Access Challenge grant program and the Great Lakes Higher Education Guaranty Corporation, a Wisconsin nonprofit, came together to award the state a total of $2.8 million. The funds will go toward college preparation workshops, admissions and financial aid application assistance, and ACT and SAT preparation workshops. While the programs are designed to target generally underrepresented students, the services these new funds provide will be available to all types of Wisconsin students interested in higher education.
