Recent Committee Actions
Yesterday, the Senate Agriculture, Forestry, and Higher Education Committee held a public hearing on SB 485, relating to access to instructional materials for students with disabilities in higher education. This legislation, which is supported by the UW System, was approved on a 7-0 vote.
Later in the day, the Assembly Insurance Committee took executive action on AB 318 relating to the use of rehired annuitants. A substitute amendment was adopted and the bill was approved on a 12-4 vote. Among the changes adopted was an increase in the required waiting period from 30 days to 75 days.
Upcoming Higher Ed Committee Meeting
On Thursday, March 1, the Assembly Colleges and Universities Committee will hold a public hearing on AB 322 relating to access to instructional materials for students with disabilities in higher education. This is identical legislation to SB 485 (mentioned above). Following the public hearing, a committee vote is scheduled on several bills including AB 322 and AB 473 relating to delaying restrictions on UW System telecommunications providers.
