University Leaders Participate in Governor's Northern Wisconsin Economic Development Summit

Last week, UW System leaders traveled to Trego, WI to speak at Governor Walker's Northwoods Summit about higher education's role in economic development. On  Dec. 6, UW System President Kevin Reilly was joined by UW-Superior Chancellor Renee Wachter, UW Colleges and UW-Extension Chancellor Ray Cross and UW System's Associate Vice President for Economic Development David Brukardt on a panel presentation: Knowledge Powers Northern Wisconsin. Topics addressed included the new Flexible Option program, dual enrollment, and a new plan for integrated economic development at campuses across the state.  See PowerPoint presentation here.

On Dec. 7, UW-Superior Chancellor Renee Wachter joined leaders from the Department of Workforce Development (DWD) and the Wisconsin Technical College System (WTCS) on a panel that provided an update on state efforts to meet the skills gap.
