Long-time Legislator Decides Not to Seek Re-election
State Senator Bob Jauch (D-Poplar) announced this week he would not run for re-election in 2014. Jauch was first elected to the legislature in 1982. Earlier this year, Senator Tim Cullen (D-Janesville) also announced he would not seek re-election in 2014.
Financial Aid Bill Advances
This week the Assembly Colleges and Universities Committee voted unanimously to advance AB 260, relating to enrollment requirements for recipients of talent incentive grants. That proposal now goes to the full Assembly for further consideration.
Governor Calls Legislature into Special Session
Governor Walker is calling the legislature into a special session next week to consider a property tax relief proposal. The legislature is expected to take up that proposal next Tuesday and Thursday.
